Microsoft announced that it will pause optional Windows 10 updates starting in May. The move is to prioritize security updates during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. While optional non-security updates will be paused, security updates will continue as normal.Microsoft shared the news on Twitter and linked to a doc with more information.

"We have been evaluating the public health situation and we understand this is impacting our customers," Microsoft said in a knowledge base article. In response to these challenges we are prioritizing our focus on security updates." The vendor added that it's "pausing all optional non-security releases" for all supported versions of Windows.

Microsoft said that "there is no change to the monthly security updates" typically released on Patch Tuesday and that "these will continue as planned to ensure business continuity and to keep our customers protected and productive." If you need Buy Windows 10 Home, you can visit our site z2u.com.

The move on the part of Microsoft comes as millions of people are working from home as governments across the globe try to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. With governors in major cities, including New York and California, calling on all non-essential workers to stay home, there has been a huge uptick in demand for digital collaboration tools, including Microsoft's Teams. It also means IT departments are spread thin, focused on helping America's workforce log in from home rather than deploy non-essential updates.

Microsoft didn’t mention any timeframe for how long this state of affairs might last – but obviously the company doesn’t have a crystal ball, and that will depend on how the situation with coronavirus unfolds as we move into the future.Optional updates are just that of course – you don’t have to install them anyway. And we suppose one brighter chink of light in this is that the fewer updates applied to Windows, the less likely that any spanners are going to be thrown into the works of the OS, what with Microsoft’s track record of patches breaking things in recent times.
