DENVER - Michael Cuddyer was trying to give his team a chance when he tagged up from first on a fly to centre. Tyus Bowser Jersey . His hustle put him in scoring position and opened the floodgates for the Colorado Rockies. Dexter Fowler had two hits and two RBIs and the Rockies rode Cuddyers savvy baserunning to a big sixth inning and a 6-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday night. "He got that inning going," manager Walt Weiss said. "Nothing Cuddy does surprises me. Always thinking, always looking for an edge." The start of the game was delayed 1 hour, 48 minutes because of a weather cell that slowly moved into the area before the first pitch. Heavy rain and lightning hit Coors Field after the scheduled 6:10 MDT start. The Pirates have lost two straight after winning 14 of 19, but stayed four games ahead of St. Louis in the NL Central. In the seventh inning, leadoff man Starling Marte left the game with a left hand injury and manager Clint Hurdle was ejected. "X-rays were taken and its a contusion," Hurdle said of Marte. Things had started to take a turn for the worse for the Pirates in the previous inning. Pittsburgh was leading 3-1 and A.J. Burnett, who beat the Rockies with a complete game last Sunday in Pittsburgh, was cruising when the Rockies put together a two-out rally. Cuddyer, who led off with a single, sparked it when he just beat the throw from centre on Wilin Rosarios fly ball. "At that point its 3-1, get into scoring position and get a big hit," Cuddyer said. "Obviously I didnt know it was going to lead to a five-run inning." The veteran move jump-started the Rockies. Nolan Arenado followed with a double to score Cuddyer, Jonathan Herrera walked and pinch-hitter Charlie Blackmon doubled to tie the game. Fowler laced a two-run single to right to give the Rockies a 5-3 lead and end Burnetts night. Burnett (5-8) allowed six runs — five earned — on eight hits and struck out eight in 5 2-3 innings. "Felt good man," Burnett said. "I was making pitches when I needed to with guys on base, getting out of jams. I have a tendency to get guys on and work out of the stretch a little bit, but you leave balls over the plate, thats what happens." It was a much different outing than last weekend when Burnett handcuffed the Rockies in tossing his 23rd complete game. He threw 110 pitches last Sunday but needed 99 to get two outs into the sixth Saturday. "Burnett commanded everything that day and really commanded the ball away to righties," Weiss said. "He still threw the ball really well, but our guys made some nice adjustments." Tony Watson came on and allowed Corey Dickersons single to left field. Marte threw to Pedro Alvarez at third, but Fowler dislodged the ball on his slide and ran home when it rolled into foul territory. Alvarez came up shaking his left hand but stayed in the game. "He caught a spike right on his index finger on his glove hand, but he was able to stay in the game," Hurdle said. "Take some swings and well see how he feels tomorrow." Marte wasnt as lucky. He fell to his knees and grabbed his hand in pain after being hit by Josh Outmans pitch in the top of the seventh. Marte was clearly hurting as the team trainer examined the injured area. Alex Presley ran for Marte. During the next at-bat, Neil Walker grounded to short and Troy Tulowitzki appeared to miss stepping on second base before throwing to first, though the umpires ruled it a double play. "It was a real athletic play to keep his foot on the bag there," Weiss said. "It was a heck of a play." Hurdle came out and argued heatedly that Tulowitzki failed to touch the bag. He was ejected for excessive arguing by second base umpire Adrian Johnson. It was the fifth ejection of the season for Hurdle, a former Rockies manager who drew some jeers from the crowd as he trudged off the field and into the clubhouse. "I wouldnt have gone out there if I didnt think he was safe," Hurdle said. "And when I got in I saw Adrian made a good call. He was on the bag. I trust my eyes and my eyes were wrong. When I went out there I really felt confident he was off the bag but Adrian made the right call." Rex Brothers gave up a run in the top of the ninth before striking out Andrew McCutchen and Alvarez to end the game for his ninth save. Colorado starter Juan Nicasio kept Pittsburghs offence in check before hitting a rough patch in the sixth. With two outs he allowed Martins third hit, and Martin scored on Garrett Jones triple to centre. Jose Tabata followed with an infield single up the middle to make it 3-1 and chase Nicasio. The righty allowed three runs on six hits and struck out four in 5 2-3 innings. Wilton Lopez (2-4) got the final out of the inning. NOTES: Marte flew out to start the game to end his streak of six straight hits over the previous two games. ... Rockies RHP Rafael Betancourt (appendectomy) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Monday. The team will decide after that whether to send him on a rehab assignment. ... Pittsburgh will send lefty Jeff Locke (9-3) against Colorado right-hander Chad Bettis (0-1) in the series finale Sunday. Morgan Cox Jersey . - Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte sees the commitment to the handoff and cant help but come away impressed. Brent Urban Jersey . The club says its first-choice centre back "underwent medical tests on Wednesday morning" which confirmed he has injured his right hamstring. The injury was caused in the second minute of Tuesdays 4-1 league win over Real Sociedad in the Camp Nou when teammate Sergio Busquets accidentally struck Mascherano just above the knee with an outstretched boot. http://www.ravensjerseyscheapauthentic.com/ravens-lardarius-webb-black-jersey/ . For the first time all night, as the Raptors were on the clock to make the 20th overall selection, no one had the slightest idea what was about to happen. No leaks, no whispers, nothing. SAN FRANCISCO -- It didnt take Tim Hudson very long to establish himself as the ace of the San Francisco Giants rotation. One month into the season, the three-time All-Star is looking just as sharp and crisp as ever. Not even a close play at first base that was eerily reminiscent to the one that resulted in a shattered right ankle last July was enough to rattle the right-hander. Hudson and Sergio Romo combined on a five-hitter and the Giants beat the San Diego Padres 3-2 on Wednesday night. "He just put on a clinic," San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said. "He stayed down the whole game, had good movement, changed speeds and threw strike one. If you want to show young pitchers how to do it, thats how you do it." Hudson (4-1) struck out six and didnt walk a batter for the fourth time in five starts this season. The Giants most consistent starter in his first season with the club, Hudson has walked two batters in 46 innings. The 38-year-old was one pitch from recording his first shutout in nearly two years before Yasmani Grandals two-out home run in the ninth. "It was definitely an economical night," Hudson said after throwing 89 pitches. "I was able to get down in the strike zone and stay down in the zone, work ahead in the count. Guys were making some good plays behind me. It was a fun night for us." Brandon Hicks homered and Michael Morse drove in his team-leading 20th RBI for the Giants, who finished 5-1 on their homestand. Cameron Maybin doubled and scored for San Diego, which has lost 10 consecutive series at AT&T Park. Hudson allowed only one runner past second base until Grandals home run in the ninth, and had two stretches where he retired nine straight batters. The right-hander helped his cause at the plate with a single in the second and a key sacrifice bunt in the seventh that put the eventual winning run in scoring position. He also survived a scare while covering first base to take the throw from Brandon Belt and retire Jace Peterson to end the fifth. The play brought back memories of last season when Hudson collided with Eric Young of the New York Mets and suffered a gruesome season-ending ankle injury. "Im not as quick as I used to be getting to first," Hudson said. "That kid was getting down the line pretty good. The old guy had to put it into overdrive to beat him. Marshal Yanda Jersey. " Hudson was sharp early and needed only 19 pitches to retire the first seven batters. After giving up a one-out single to Peterson in the third, the three-time All-Star struck out San Diego pitcher Robbie Erlin and Everth Cabrera. The only other hits the Padres managed came on a two-out double by Grandal in the fourth, a single by Jedd Gyorko in the seventh and a leadoff double by Maybin in the eighth. Maybin scored on Alexi Amaristas groundout. "You cant let a guy like that get ahead in the count," Padres manager Bud Black said. "Hell really give you fits. Those pitches that were early count swings looked to me as though they were in good spots today. We just didnt hit them." The Giants, playing without leadoff hitter Angel Pagan and third baseman Pablo Sandoval, backed Hudson with just enough offence. Every starter except leadoff man Juan Perez had at least one hit. Hunter Pence singled, stole second and scored on Morses two-out double off the wall in right in the first. Hicks fifth home run of the season leading off the second made it 2-0. Erlin (1-4) pitched out of jams in the third and fourth but lost his fourth straight start. He left with two outs in the seventh, struck out five and walked one. Buster Poseys RBI single off reliever Dale Thayer drove in Joaquin Arias to put the Giants up 3-0. After Grandals homer cut San Franciscos lead to 3-2, Romo retired pinch-hitter Chris Denorfia for his seventh save. Pagan was given the night off to rest his sore right knee while the slumping Sandoval also rested. Sandoval went into the night batting just .177 with only six RBIs. NOTES: Gyorko was reinstated from the paternity leave list before the game. To make room, San Diego optioned Tommy Medica to Triple-A El Paso. ... Padres LF Carlos Quentin, on the 15-day DL with a bone bruise in his left knee, will re-join the big league club for a workout at Petco Park before Fridays game against Arizona. The team will then determine where Quentin goes to begin a rehab assignment. ... RHP Tim Lincecum (1-1), who starts the series opener, has a 2.99 ERA in 13 career starts against the Braves. ... RHP Andrew Cashner, San Diegos starter against Arizona, has a 0.81 ERA at Petco Park this season.
