Wichita, KS (SportsNetwork. Carson Tinker Jersey .com) - As a result of last Wednesdays win at Drake, the 16th-ranked Wichita State Shockers picked up where they left off last season when they won each of their 18 Missouri Valley Conference games. This evening, the Shockers will entertain the Illinois State Redbirds as they seek their 12th win of the campaign, and seventh in as many opportunities at home. Illinois State recently had a modest two-game win streak stopped in its MVC opener against visiting Indiana State on New Years Eve, as the Sycamores prevailed in a 63-61 final. The loss was the fifth in 13 games for the Redbirds this season, and their third in seven home bouts. ISU won its first two road games of the campaign, before stumbling in its most recent (89-77 at Murray State on Dec. 20). Wichita State bounced back from a 60-54 loss to George Washington to post a 66-58 win at Drake in its league lid-lifter the last time out. The defeat to the Colonials being only the teams second of the season, the other coming in a 69-68 final in overtime at Utah on Dec. 3. Wichita State leads the all-time series with Illinois State by the slimmest of margins, 38-37, and the Shockers have won the last five meetings. Tony Wills scored 16 points and MiKyle McIntosh added 11 more, but it wasnt enough as Illinois State dropped a two-point decision to Indiana State last Wednesday. The Redbirds shot just 35.8 percent from the field, which included a 6-of-17 effort from 3-point range, while the Sycamores nailed nine treys and finished at 42.6 percent overall. Both teams were extremely careless with the basketball, as Indiana State committed 24 turnovers and Illinois State 20. The difference however, being the Sycamores scored 26 points off the miscues, and the Redbirds only 15. For the season, Daishon Knight is the teams leading scorer at 14.4 ppg, while the injured DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell nips at his heels with 14.1 ppg. No other player is averaging double figures, although Bobby Hunter (9.6 ppg) is close to joining the ranks. The Redbirds are outscoring the opposition by 7.7 ppg, while also laying claim to favorable margins in both rebounding (+5.2) and turnovers (+1.9). Ron Baker poured in 23 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists in leading Wichita State to its recent win over Drake. Tekele Cotton added 17 points, four boards and four helpers for the Shockers, who knocked down 9-of-17 3-point attempts and converted 17-of-23 free throws, all while committing only five turnovers. WSU was outrebounded, 38-29, but held the Bulldogs to 33.3 percent field goal efficiency. Baker is now averaging 17.1 ppg to pace the Shockers, while Fred VanVleet and Darius Carter net 11.3 ppg apiece. Cotton turns in 9.9 ppg while pacing the teams rebounding effort with 6.3 rpg. VanVleet serves as Wichita States primary playmaker as both ends of the court, logging 67 assists and 26 steals. The Shockers are scoring 73.7 ppg while permitting 60.1 ppg, and their defensive effort goads the opposition into nearly 15 turnovers per outing. Austin Seferian-Jenkins Jersey . Granada goalkeeper Roberto Fernandez saved Morenos first two headers from corner kicks taken by Sergio Garcia, but the defender beat him on his third try after Garcia found Moreno unmarked at the near post in the 78th minute. Taven Bryan Jersey . First, the Red Wings scored the tying goal after officials missed the puck hitting the protective netting, then the Kings wound up losing in a shootout. That could affect playoff positioning in the Eastern and Western Conferences, and thats a concern for everyone. http://www.cheapjaguarsjerseysonline.com/?tag=corey-grant-jersey-online .com) - Patrik Elias registered the winner in the shootout as New Jersey nipped Toronto 2-1 at Prudential Center on Wednesday.Heres what I have learned about Sarah Burke. She was a pioneer. She did things on skis that made the birds take notice. Sarah Burke was a crusader. For years she fought to get womens halfpipe recognized as a sport. She was a dreamer too. Her mom, Jan Phelan, told me that even as a little kid she wanted to ski in the Olympics. Jan still lives and makes art only a few blocks away from her daughters house in Squamish, B.C. A few weeks before the Sochi Olympics I went to meet her to talk about her daughters legacy. She told me about how when Sarah took up halfpipe as a teenager, as the only woman in the sport, she competed against men. “So she said , Okay, I will compete against the senior men. And so she came fourth, and landed the first 1080 in a competition. And so of all of these men, many of whom were on the world cup circuit, Sarah, this little kid came fourth. Isnt that something?" Thats how Sarah Burke first put womens halfpipe on the map. But she didnt stop there. Jan remembers proofreading the emails Sarah wrote when she was 14 to the X Games asking them why women couldnt compete. At events Sarah tracked down officials and demanded women be given a chance. For years she was turned down. “She would be crying in her goggles and venting her frustration and then she would say, Okay, I am going to go back and talk to them again. I could just imagine the tears filling up her goggles because she was so mad. And she had worked so hard at it.” Some super sad times I met Sarahs husband, Rory Bushfield, on his driveway. And in a matter of moments he had conviced me to put his bike in our little CBC rental car and shuttle him up a mountain so he could go for a ride. We obliiged. Stitched Jaguars Jerseys. “Its been two years since Sarah passed and I have gone through some super sad times but everything about Sarah is easy to smile about. She did it with grace, and she did it with class, pushed herself in the right places, skied half pipe like a champion, did so many first tricks for women that had never been done, you know, continued to push and continued to push.” Finally, in 2005, Sarah broke through. Her work paid off. Womens halfpipe got a spot in the world championships. Sarah won gold, and in her post-run interview she kept on pushing: “I am keeping my fingers crossed for the Olympics, we are only get better and I am hoping to get it in there.” But Sarah would never make it to the Olympics. On Jan. 19, 2012, Sarah Burke died after a crash while training in Utah. But in a way she won her fight. She got her sport into the Olympics. And so in Sochi, when the women drop into the halfpipe for the first time, Sarahs dream will have come true. Canadian slopestyle Spencer OBrien was a close friend of Burkes, and after her qualifying runs she showed me the little tape banner that still hangs on her board two years after Sarah died. Jan Phelan is making the long trip from Squamish to Sochi. She wants to stand near the halfpipe as the women compete and witness her daughters legacy. “If you had asked me, before this happened, what was the worst thing in my life would be, it would be to lose a child. To lose Sarah. I now know that there is one thing worse and that is to never have had her at all. Right. So what that tells me is to look at all these wonderful things she did accomplish and to enjoy them, let them bring you happiness.” Jerseys NFL China Cheap Adidas NHL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys From China Cheap MLB Jerseys Wholesale China Jerseys NFL Jerseys China Discount Soccer Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys China China NCAA Jerseys Cheap Cheap Nike Dolphins Jerseys Cheap Nike Patriots Jerseys Cheap Nike Jets Jerseys Cheap Nike Bengals Jerseys Cheap Nike Browns Jerseys Cheap Nike Steelers Jerseys Cheap Nike Texans Jerseys Cheap Nike Colts Jerseys Cheap Nike Jaguars Jerseys Cheap Nike Titans Jerseys Cheap Nike Broncos Jerseys ' ' '
