RIO DE JANEIRO， June 15 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's football confederation (CBF) has appointed Tite as national team coach， his former club Corinthians said on Wednesday.


The 55-year-old replaces Brazil's 1994 World Cup-winning captain Dunga， who was sacked after the Selecao were dumped out of the Copa America following a 1-0 loss to Peru on Sunday.


It was the first time Brazil have failed to progress beyond the group stage of the continental tournament since 1987.


"Tite will no longer work with [us]， he accepted the CBF's offer，" Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade said in a news conference. "Also leaving with him is his son， Matheus， and [football manager] Edu Gaspar."


"I was the first person he told of the decision. Until two hours ago I thought that he wouldn't go， I was surprised."


Tite's main task will be to guide Brazil to the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia. The Selecao are currently sixth in the South American zone standings with just two wins from their first six matches.


Only the top four teams are guaranteed a berth in the tournament while the fifth-ranked side will earn a playoff spot.


Tite is regarded as one of the most successful managers in Corinthians' history， having led them to the 2011 and 2015 Brazilian Serie A titles， and the 2012 Copa Libertadores-FIFA Club World Cup double.


Meanwhile the CBF named Rogerio Micale as coach of Brazil's Olympic football team for the Rio 2016 Games in August.

In seasonally adjusted terms, the number of people registered as unemployed fell by 6,000 to 2.79 million in May, German Federal Labour Agency said.


The adjusted jobless rate thus remained unchanged from the previous month at 6.4 percent, the lowest level since German reunification in 1990.


"Although economic growth has recently slowed somewhat, the labor market continues to develop favorably," said the labour agency's chief Frank-Juergen Weise in a statement.


Germany's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.3 percent in the first quarter of 2015, slower than the growth of 0.7 percent in the last quarter of 2014.


Foreign trade was the main factor that dragged economic growth. Private consumption, meanwhile, was one of the main driving forces, thanks to a stable labour market, low interest rates, rising wages and falling energy prices.


A separate report from German federal statistical office Destatis showed that Germany's jobless rate measured with concept of International Labour Organization (ILO) stood at 4.7 percent in April, unchanged from in March when the average jobless rate of the euro zone was 11.3 percent.


HELSINKI, May 25 (Xinhua) -- A fire caused by an unplugged mobile charger destroyed a house in Finland in 2013, and then triggered an invention that can prevent such tragedy from happening again.


The newly invented ASMO mobile gadget charger can shut off automatically when the gadget is no longer connected to it, Finnish national radio Yle reported on Monday.


The charger has been ready for production, and the Finnish developers said their product was the first of its kind worldwide.


Chargers warm up and reach high temperatures and thus can cause a fire. The new ASMO charger will eliminate the fire hazard when the charger remains plugged, said the report.


The name of the new product is the first name of its main designer Asmo Saloranta. He got the idea in the wake of a fire where a charger that had not been unplugged damaged the childhood home of his fiance in Oulu, northern Finland.


The prototype was produced in 2014 and got a patent. Saloranta told Finnish national radio Yle that orders were being awaited.


NAIROBI, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Kenyan women's team was on Wednesday in buoyant mood as they departed for Cairo, Egypt for the Africa Junior volleyball championship, which starts on Friday.

"We are determined to bring down all our opponents. We want the crown we can't settle for less," said Lowem.


Egypt will be Kenya's biggest challenger as they seek to revenge a past loss where Kenya hit them 3-0 in last year's African youth championships. "We are not ready to play second fiddle to Egypt again," she said.


Kenya failed to send the women's under-18 and 20 teams to Algiers, Algeria for Africa Championships last year.


This will be the second time girls' age group teams take part in international competitions in two years. The national under-23 team played at the World Championships in Mexico in 2013.


"Everything is in place and this youthful side are poise for the qualifying to global championships in Cyprus," said Kenya Volleyball Federation chairman Waithaka Kioni.
