NFL Power Rankings, Week 5: The Patriots look like the Patriots again
Record: 5-0
Result: 33-31 W at SEA
Even with Jared Goff a little off and the receiving corps banged up, the Rams offense put up 33 points on the road against a solid defense. Outside of health, it's hard to find a weakness for this team.Record: 2-2-1
Result: 23-21 at PHI
The record doesn't look great at the moment, but that's just the byproduct of playing one bad half against a Bills team that might be better than we all thought. A close road loss to the Rams on a short week is nothing to be ashamed of. We saw what this team will look like going forward on Sunday in Philly.Record: 4-1
Result: 43-19 W vs. WSH
This version of the Saints defense may not be a good as last year's, but it doesn't have to be with the way the offense is playing. Drew Brees is playing at an MVP level, rookie WR Tre'Quan Smith adds another downfield threat to the passing game and Taysom Hill provides an element Sean Payton's offense has never had.US TODAY SportsRecord: 5-0
Result: 30-14 W vs. JAX
One terrible game by Blake Bortles is not enough to convince me the defense isn't terrible. By the same token, I'm not ready to say this high-flying offense is slowing down because of inconsistent performances against one of the league's best defenses and a road game in Denver.Record: 3-1
Result: 33-31 W vs. NYG
The way this Panthers defense allowed New York to get back into the game is a little concerning, but getting Thomas Davis back should help some. Cam Newton throwing two ugly picks did not help the defense's cause. He needs to play better if this team is going to threaten the conference's upper crust.Record: 3-2
Result: 38-24 W vs. IND
The Patriots are nearly at full strength and, in Josh Gordon, have a threat on the outside who can scare teams out of playing man coverage. New England is about to take off with the AFC East.Record: 4-1
Result: 27-17 W vs. MIA
From top-to-bottom, this might the AFC's most talented team. The coaching staff remains the biggest concern. The Bengals have no business falling behind early to a mediocre Dolphins team at home.Record: 3-2
Result: 26-10 W vs. OAK
The Chargers defense is starting to play up to its potential and should get even better when Joey Bosa returns in about a month. On the other side of the ball, Philip Rivers continues to play at an MVP level despite missing some of his targets in the passing game.Jake Roth-USA TODAY SportsRecord: 3-2
Result: 30-14 L at KC
No matter how good the defense is, it's difficult to trust a team with a quarterback who doesn't seem to know how to throw a spiral.Record: 3-2
Result: 12-9 L at CLE
You praise Joe Flacco once and he repays you with his worst performance of the season. But even with the offense struggling, the Ravens should have won a road game against a solid divisional opponent. Despite the setback, Baltimore will be just fine.Record: 2-2-1
Result: 41-17 W vs. ATL
The Steelers are slowly figuring out their defensive issues. The unit won't ever be considered an asset but it doesn't have to be with the offense playing like it is.Record: 2-2
Result: 43-19 L at NO
Well, that was a dud. The Redskins defense played as if they wanted Drew Brees to break every NFL passing record on Monday night. The offense wasn't much better with Alex Smith panicking in the pocket. I'm not overly concerned with Washington, but there will be more games like this.Record: 2-2-1
Result: 31-23 L at DET
Losing to the Lions is a bad look for a supposed Super Bowl contender, but the Packers getting back within a touchdown in the fourth quarter was actually impressive considering that Mason Crosby missed 13 points worth of kicks and Green Bay fumbled three times on their own side of the field.Tim Fuller-USA TODAY SportsRecord: 2-3
Result: 23-21 L vs. MIN
This team has issues. Plenty of them, in fact. But I'm still fully expecting the Eagles to turn it around any week now. Carson Wentz looks as good as he did a year ago. The offensive line just needs to play a little better. Luckily for the secondary, it won't have to match up against Stefon Diggs and Adam Theilen every week.Record: 3-1
Result: Bye
It would have been nice to see if the Bears offense - particularly Mitch Trubisky - could repeat the success it had against the Bucs' awful defense. We'll find out this week.Record: 2-2-1
Result: 12-9 W vs. BAL
No matter how well the offense plays going forward, the Browns defense is going to be good enough Sylvester Williams White Elite Jersey to keep this team around .500 all season. If Baker Mayfield continues to improve, a Wild Card push is not out of the question.Record: 2-3
Result: 19-16 W vs. DAL
The Texans are starting to look like the team we expected them to be before the season. J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney are simply unblockable at the moment. Deshaun Watson is playing well Emmanuel Sanders White Elite Jersey
when Bill O'Brien isn't getting him pulverized on the goal line.Record: 1-4
Result: 41-17 at PIT
The https://www.vonmillerbroncosshop.com/authentic-case-keenum-jersey-sale-1_121.html
defense remains an injured mess and there are now questions about Matt Ryan's ability to play outside of a dome after a bad performance in Pittsburgh. This already looks like a lost season in Atlanta.Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY SportsRecord: 3-2
Result: 13-12 L at BUF
Titans fans were up in arms after we ranked them in the bottom half of the league a weeks ago. Then the team went out and scored 12 points in a loss to the Bills. Not good. Tennessee's defense looks playoff caliber, but the offense continues to underwhelm, mostly due to an underperforming offensive line.Record: 2-3
Result: 31-23 W vs. GB
The Lions are frisky! It might be hard to get that Monday night opener out of your head, but since that game, Detroit has looked solid. Not playoff solid, but certainly 8-8 solid.Record: 2-2
Result: Bye
If the coaching staff couldn't figure out some of the defensive problems that have plagued the team during the bye week, it will not matter who starts at quarterback going forward.Record: 2-3
Result: 33-31 L vs. LAR
The Seahawks offense finally went back to what Russell Wilson does best - play-action passes and zone read runs - and the offense looked as good as it has in a few years. Go figure.Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports23. Dallas CowboysRecord: 2-3
Result: 19-16 L at HOU
The offensive line is no longer the asset it once was and it's time we all acknowledge that. Dallas' o-line was completely out-classed by the Texans' front and it killed the Cowboys' passing game, which isn't very good to begin with.Record: 3-2
Result: 27-17 L at CIN
We're still not ready to completely write off the Dolphins after two ugly losses on the road to playoff teams. Miami doesn't have the talent to beat good teams, but it should continue to beat up on the bad ones.Record: 1-4
Result: 38-24 L at NE
Thursday night wasn't pretty, but did you see the Colts' injury report going into that game? A short week on the road against the Patriots could not have come at a worse time.Record: 1-4
Result: 33-31 L at CAR
The Giants are better than their record indicates, but that's not saying much for a team playing .200 football. And, yes, Odell, the Giants do have an issue at quarterback.Record: 2-3
Result: 34-16 W vs. DEN
It's hard to rank this Jets team because the success of the offense is contingent on a 21-year-old quarterback playing well. There will be weeks when the Jets look like a fringe top-20 team (as they did on Sunday), and there will be weeks when they look like a team that will be drafting in the top-five.Record: 1-4
Result: 28-18 W at SF
The Cardinals look like a different team with Josh Rosen behind center, and they are only a Phil Dawson field goal and blown lead against Chicago away from having a winning record.Record: 2-3
Result: 34-16 L at NYJ
Can we finally stop pretending this Broncos defense is anything special? That ended two years ago. Giving up 34 points to a Jets team that had been struggling mightily on offense should do the trick.Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY SportsRecord: 1-4
Result: 26-10 L at LAC
It's easy to point the finger at Jon Gruden for the team's struggles, but the roster just isn't very good and the highly-paid quarterback continues to Nike Demaryius Thomas Jersey On Sale
make back-breaking mistakes at key moments. Khalil Mack would not have changed much.Record: 2-3
Result: 13-12 W vs. TEN
The Bills may not be the worst team in the league, after all. Not with the defense capable of performing like it has in the team's two wins. Josh Allen isn't ready to lead the passing game, but his mobility gives the offensive coaches something to work with, at least.Record: 1-4
Result: 28-18 L vs. ARI
Everything that could go wrong for the 49ers, has gone wrong for the 49ers. Don't worry, San Francisco. Things will get better in 2019. We think.MORE:LaVar Ball broke character while holding Lonzo's baby daughter for the first timeStephen A.
