The Indians have activated starting first baseman Yonder Alonso from the family medical emergency list.

Alonso returned Monday after missing a weekend series against Minnesota. Alonso is batting .248 with 11 homers and 37 RBIs in 65 games for Cleveland Tavon Austin Jersey , which signed him as a free agent in December.

To make room for Alonso, the team optioned outfielder Greg Allen to Triple-A Columbus.

The Indians also signed reliever Marc Rzepczynski to a minor league contract and assigned him to the Clippers. The left-hander previously pitched for the Indians from 2013-15, appearing in 145 games. He pitched in a career-high 73 games for Cleveland in 2014.

He pitched last season with Seattle and two months in 2018 with the Mariners before being designated for assignment on June 1. He has appeared in 501 career major league games.

Also Robert Newhouse Jersey , outfielder Melky Cabrera cleared waivers and elected free agency. The team designated him for assignment last week.

Former NFL player Rae Carruth has apologized for his role in the shooting death of Cherica Adams in 2001 and the permanent disability suffered by his then-unborn son, Chancellor Adams, as a result.

Carruth is serving 18 to 24 years in prison after being found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and two other charges. He could be released Oct. 22 from Sampson Correctional Institution in Clinton Rico Gathers Jersey , North Carolina.

In a 15-page hand-written letter and ensuing phone call to WBTV in Charlotte, Carruth apologized to Adams' mother, Saundra Adams Dwayne Washington Jersey , for the "senseless act that led to the death of your daughter and the permanent physical difficulties that Chancellor has to suffer through."

Carruth also said he'd like custody of Chancellor one day. However, Adams told WBTV that won't happen .
