The Chiefs signed second-round draft pick Breeland Speaks to his four-year rookie contract Thursday John Johnson Jersey , making him the third of their six draft selections to sign a deal.

Kansas City did not have a first-round pick this year after trading it away last year to move up and select quarterback Patrick Mahomes II. So, new general manager Brett Veach waited until the 46th overall pick to grab Speaks, who is expected to bolster the Chiefs' weak pass rush this season.

Speaks played three seasons at Mississippi J.J. Watt Jersey , where he had 121 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and nine sacks. But the Chiefs hope his production will increase now that he can focus on outside linebacker.

The Chiefs needed help there even before parting with veteran Tamba Hali this offseason.

USA Football says 242 high schools contributed to the 256 players selected in the seven rounds of last month’s NFL draft.

Lakewood High School in Florida and Serra High in California each had three players selected to lead the country.

Patriots first-round pick Isaiah Wynn, Packers fifth-rounder Marquez Valdes-Scantling Sam Acho Jersey , and Seahawks fifth-rounder Shaquem Griffin attended Lakewood.

Griffin, who is missing his left hand, was one of the biggest stories of the draft in Arlington T.J. Yeldon Jersey , Texas, when he was selected on the last day to join his twin brother Shaquill’s team.

49ers second-rounder Dante Pettis, Seahawks third-rounder Rasheem Green Karl Mecklenburg Jersey , and Ravens‘ fifth-rounder Jordan Lasley went to Serra High.

In all 12 high schools had multiple players drafted.
