Canadas Kevin Koe had to settle for fourth place at the world mens curling championship after falling 7-5 to Switzerland in Sundays bronze-medal match. Sheldon Richardson Vikings Jersey . Koes Calgary rink came into the 10th end down by three, but couldnt muster the comeback, scoring just a single point in the final end against the Swiss team. Switzerland stole single points in the first two ends, and padded their lead with deuces in the sixth and ninth ends en route to the victory. "We definitely didnt want to lose that game," said lead Nolan Thiessen. "But after yesterday, it was tough to get fired up. But no excuses. They played better than us." Canada had two chances on Saturday to reach Sundays gold-medal game, but fell short to Norways Thomas Ulsrud in the 1-2 Page playoff game, and then to Swedens Oskar Eriksson in the semifinal. Ulsrud led from start to finish in defeating Sweden 8-3 to claim the gold medal later Sunday. "I thought we played well in the one-two game and the semi," sad Koe. "We were very close. But in games like that where the other teams are playing well, you have to make the last shot of the end sometimes and we let our chances slip away." Despite failing to medal at the world championships, Canadian coach Rick Lang says theres no reason to push any panic buttons, considering Canada has finished in the top six at every international curling event this season. "Twenty-four hours ago, we were within a shot or two of being in the final here," said Lang. "And then we have a bad 24 hours and that chat starts. But we had a great team here. They didnt play like themselves the last couple days, but they were worthy Brier champions. "We sent a great team here. They just didnt have a good day, and that can happen to anybody. The level of competition here is strong and getting stronger. We just have to answer the bell, thats all." Koe said he was proud of the way the team performed in Beijing. "Thats the way weve always done things," he said. "Some people might not like our style or our game, but we fight. Its not always the prettiest, but we get things done. "Im proud of the guys. We had a great run. World championship, two Brier titles, a Brier final -- obviously this was very disappointing, but its been a great team." Randy Moss Vikings Jersey . Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves to backstop the Penguins to a 2-1 victory over the Flames, handing Calgary its team record sixth consecutive home regulation loss. Mike Remmers Jersey .ca! Hi Kerry, Im sure youve received many emails wondering what your take is on the Spezza goal that looked like Neil blatantly kicked it in while standing directly in the middle of the crease where, you know, usually a goalie is to make a save but couldnt be due to Neil being there! Thanks! There is plenty of blame to be shared as a result of the most recent NHL player (Pittsburghs Brooks Orpik) to be evacuated from the ice on a stretcher following an ugly incident Saturday night in Boston.CALGARY -- Brad Trelivings first major move as new Calgary Flames general manager was to beef up the front office. He named former Flame forward Craig Conroy and former Hockey Canada executive Brad Pascall as his new assistant general managers Friday. Conroy and Pascall join Mike Holditch, who has held that title since 2010. "Having depth, having manpower, allows us to see more and do more," Treliving said at Scotiabank Saddledome. "Everything we do here when we look at adding staff and we look at adding people, this is all about building and this is about winning. "To me, you need to build your foundation off the ice before you can ever think of having success on the ice." Treliving, 44, was revealed as the Flames new GM on April 28. The Flames were grooming Conroy for the managerial ranks before Trelivings arrival. Conroy went to work immediately as a special assistant to former GM Jay Feaster after retiring in 2011. Conroys apprenticeship accelerated in December when president of hockey operations Brian Burke fired Feaster. Conroy had more responsibilities in the four months Burke searched for a replacement before deciding on Treliving. "All of a sudden, everyone had more to do," Conroy said. "Now you can really focus in on an area and really nail down what were going to do moving forward." The 42-year-old from Potsdam, N.Y., played 1,009 NHL regular-season games, just over half of them with the Flames. He also played for the Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings and St. Louis Blues. Pascall worked for Hockey Canada for almost two decades in different roles. He was most recently vice-president of hockey operationns for the last four years. Randy Moss Jersey. He was part of the management groups that assembled the victorious Canadian mens hockey teams for the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics. "I think the evolution of my experience of being involved with various championship teams and building an organization there from a high-performance structure, I think it was always an aspiration of mine to one day move onto the National Hockey League," Pascall said. The 43-year-old from Coquitlam, B.C., was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 1990 and played four years of minor pro hockey. His wife is Cassie Campbell-Pascall, who led the Canadian womens hockey team to Olympic gold in 2002 and 2006 as team captain. Holditchs area of expertise is salary cap and contracts. Pascall will oversee Calgarys American Hockey League team which is moving to Glens Falls, N.Y., next season from Abbotsford, B.C. Conroy will spend the most time of the road of the three, Treliving said, watching NHL and minor pro games in order to help with player decisions. "I think you ought to be careful that youre not tripping over people, but the way I look at it is you get the right people on the bus, you get winners
