Spring will be different this year in Chicago. More Chicago sports fans will have their attention on the city�s Major League Baseball teams than the Stanley Cup playoffs, with the Chicago Blackhawks being mathematically eliminated after Tuesday�s home loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

The Blackhawks had made the playoffs nine straight years, winning the Stanley Cup three times in that span. It was one of the most successful team runs in the Chicago sports history. Here is a list of the best moment from each season during the Hawks� incredible run.

2008 09 Quenneville promoted to head coach

Chicago pulled the trigger and fired Denis Savard after only four games then promoted Joel Quenneville to head coach. The Hawks had hired Quenneville in September 2008 as a pro scout. It turned out to be a great call by then general manager Dale Tallon.

There�s no question about Patrick Kane�s Cup clinching goal landing the top spot for this season. Kane�s shot slipped past Philadelphia Flyers� goaltender Michael Leighton in overtime of Game 6 to end Chicago�s 49 year Cup drought. It was the longest Cup drought at the time.

2010 11 Hawks tie series against Vancouver after being down 3 0

The Hawks barely made the 2011 playoffs. Needing to win their final game, Chicago stumbled but received help from Minnesota beating Dallas for the Hawks to claim the No. 8 seed. Chicago matched up with Vancouver, who they defeated the previous two postseasons 4 2. The Canucks jumped out to a 3 0 series lead, but the Hawks managed to tie the series. Toews scored with less than two minutes left in the game to send it to overtime, but Alexandre Burrows tallied his second goal of the game to give Vancouver the win.

2011 12 Extra playoff hockey

For a second straight season, Chicago was bounced out of the first round. However, it took some time for it to happen. The first five games in the series went to overtime, with Chicago scoring the tying goal in less than 15 seconds left in regulation to force the extra session in Games 1 and 2. The series is likely more known for Andrew Shaw�s three game suspension after hitting Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith in the head in Game 2 and Coyotes� Raffi Torres� hit on Hossa causing the Hawks forward to leave the game. Torres was suspended for 25 games.

From the start of the lockout shortened season, Chicago was the favorite to win its second Cup in three years. And they did, but it didn�t come easily.
