U-BOAT launches new CHIMERA GREEN LINE series

From emerald to sage, stone gray to khaki, green has become one of the biggest trends in the luxury watch industry in 2021. We're seeing new design shades as well as classic reinterpretations. Italian watch manufacturer U-Boat has chosen the latter, launching its newly refurbished U-Boat Chimera Green watch collection, available in naturally aged bronze or 316L stainless steel, with its signature Chimera dial accents finished in subtle green.

As always, the new U-Boat collection is designed by Italo Fontana, founder of the luxury watch brand. Set in a villa surrounded by the hills of Gragnano in the heart of Tuscany and just 15 minutes from Lucca's ancient medieval walls, Fontana drew inspiration from the surrounding landscape and Italian tradition to imagine his The next greatest masterpiece. For the U-Boat Chimera, he wanted to express his love for vintage culture through an aged strap design, vintage dial and masculine case silhouette. With the new U-Boat Chimera Green, he takes this vision one step further, embodying his colorful and playful personality through green variations. Let’s take a look at four new U-Boat Chimera Green watches.

U-Boat Chimera Green 8526
The first product in the U-Boat Chimera Green range is number 8526. Made entirely of naturally aged bronze, this limited edition chronograph has a diameter of 46 mm and features a patented crown release system at 8 o'clock, a Chimera feature that allows for easy reading Time and date change. The case also features a matching bronze bezel and case back as well as an oversized crown cap for easy gripping. The center features a laser-cut two-layer matte brown dial with engraved numerals, hour markers and counters, accented by a vivid green chronograph seconds hand and green 24-hour auxiliary dial hands. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal treated with an anti-reflective coating. The U-Boat Chimera Green 8526 watch houses an automatic movement, processed and modified according to U-BOAT specifications. It is equipped with a custom skeletonized rotor, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back. It has a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 48 hours. This bronze U-Boat Chimera watch features a distressed brown leather strap and is handcrafted in Tuscany by expert craftsmen.

U-Boat Chimera Green 8527
The second and final bronze piece in the U-Boat Chimera Green series is number 8527. Unlike the bronze model above, this limited edition watch uses a more classic time, date and GMT display, with two sword-shaped bronze hour and minute hands, a stylish green second hand and a 24-hour auxiliary dial. Decorated with green hands and a curved date window at 9 o'clock. These functions are once again powered by an automatic movement, this time with a 48-hour power reserve, 26 rubies and a frequency of 28,800 bph. Like all U-Boat Chimera Green watches, reference 8527 is 46 mm in diameter and features a stunning sapphire crystal case back that allows you to see the movement through a U-shaped opening. The dial is once again a two-layer design, but this time in black, with a brushed metal finish and laser-cut hands, a patented crown release system at 10 o'clock, and is water-resistant to 100 meters. The bronze case is paired with another brown distressed leather strap with a bronze pin buckle.

U-Boat Chimera Green 8528
Next up is the U-Boat Chimera Green, reference 8528. This is the first limited edition in the series to be made of steel and is limited to 500 pieces. Other than that, it pretty much follows all the same specs as the 8526 chronograph mentioned above. Its 46 mm case is made of AISI 316L stainless steel and features the signature oversized crown cover and patented crown release system at 8 o’clock. The five-screw case back once again provides a glimpse of the self-winding movement, which provides hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph, date and 24-hour markers, as well as a 48-hour power reserve. In stark contrast to the matte black double-layered dial, green marks the chronograph seconds hand and the hands on the 24-hour subdial. As expected, the U-Boat Chimera Green 8528 is water-resistant to 100 meters, features a curved sapphire crystal treated with an anti-reflective coating for instant legibility, and is secured by an aged black laser-cut leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle On the wrist.

Last but not least is the U-Boat Chimera Green (Ref. 8529). I'm sure you already know the pattern here, but this model follows almost exactly in the footsteps of the bronze number 8527, but in stainless steel. Again, this watch is limited to 500 pieces and features a patented crown release system at 10 o’clock for easy time and date setting. This time, the crown, bezel, case back and case are all made of AISI 316L stainless steel, while the black dial and black leather strap highlight the masculine aesthetic. The U-Boat Chimera Green 8529 watch is powered by another Swiss automatic movement that displays hours, minutes, seconds, date and 24-hour time, the latter with green accents on the complications and large central running seconds hand. The movement promises a 48-hour power reserve and features a custom skeletonized rotor that sits beneath a five-screw case back with a U-shaped display opening. Guaranteed 100-meter water resistance, high-quality domed curved sapphire glass treated with anti-reflective coating ensures fast readability.
