Forsett finished with a career-high 182 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries for the Ravens (7-4), who moved into a three-way tie for second place in the AFC North behind the Bengals (7-3-1). Joe Flacco threw for 243 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-24 passing, Steve Smith made four catches for 89 yards and a touchdown and Torrey Smith hauled in five passes for 98 yards in the win. Trailing 17-14 at halftime, the Ravens took control with 13 straight points. After Justin Tuckers 31-yard field goal tied the game on Baltimores initial drive of the third quarter, Will Hill stepped in front of a pass intended for Graham, picking off Brees and taking the ball back for a 44-yard touchdown and a 24-17 Ravens lead with five minutes to play in the third. Tucker booted a 55-yard field goal to increase Baltimores advantage to 27-17 early in the fourth. Shayne Graham split the uprights from 34 yards out on New Orleans next possession. Forsett provided breathing room for Baltimore after emerging through a hole on the left side and taking the ball 20 yards for a 34-20 lead with 2:53 to play. Graham made a 2-yard leaping score just inside the goal line to get the Saints within one score with 40 seconds to play, but Baltimores Kamar Aiken recovered the onside kick to seal the win. Joe Morgan raced 67 yards down the left sideline off a reverse on just the Saints second play from scrimmage. Two plays later, Mark Ingram appeared to fumble the ball just short of the goal line, but it was ruled that he was down by contact upon further review. The Ravens defense still made a stop, however, as a leaping Ingram was stuffed short of the end zone on fourth down. Forsett bounced off a defender and took off for a 38-yard gain on Baltimores first play and Steve Smith moved the chains after hauling in a 14-yard pass on third down. After a face mask penalty moved the Ravens deep into their opponents territory, Smith caught Flaccos pass while falling just in bounds past cornerback Brian Dixon for an early lead. Morgans 62-yard catch placed the Saints deep in Ravens territory and two plays later, Graham tied the game with a 10-yard grab with 3:26 to play in the first quarter. On the ensuing drive, Steve Smith made another big play, this time a 40-yard grab to place Baltimore at the New Orleans 8, but Kyle Juszczyk fumbled the ball at the goal line. New Orleans next drive stalled at their own 26 and the Ravens marched 69 yards down the field in four plays. Forsett found the back of the end zone on a 13-yard scamper to give the Ravens a 14-7 lead with 9:08 left in the first half to cap a drive that was highlighted by Torrey Smiths 40-yard catch. Kenny Stills jumped up in the air and ripped the ball out of cornerback Danny Gorrers hands for a 33-yard catch down to the 5-yard line. Graham bobbled a pass in the end zone on third down as the visitors settled for a 20- yard Graham field goal. After a Baltimore punt, New Orleans got the ball back with just under two minutes left in the first half. St. Louis, 38, is the highest scoring player in the league since 2009-2010, tallying 388 points (131 G, 257 A) in 351 games and led the league in scoring last season, with 60 points in 48 games. Theres no reason, despite his age, to believe that St. Louis suddenly wont be able to keep producing offensively. While St. Louis has never been an exceptional possession player, hes thrived alongside Steven Stamkos, one of the premier finishers in the game, which has resulted in a consistently high high on-ice shooting percentage. There arent a lot of players that can maintain those percentages but St. Louis has been able to produce an on-ice shooting percentage above 10% every season, including the current season, during which hes spent most of his year skating with rookies Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat. So, if St. Louis gets re-united with former Lightning linemate Brad Richards, there is a fair chance for that line -- with Carl Hagelin on the left side -- to be productive, definitely more productive than they have been with Callahan in that spot. St. Louis is under contract for one more season, at a cap hit of $5.625-million, but there is an advantage built in for the Rangers when it comes to signing him to an extension. Since New York was St. Louis preferred destination, its reasonable enough to think that the Blueshirts will be able to keep him as long as he keeps scoring. The Lightning Get: RW Ryan Callahan, a second-round pick, a 2015 first-round pick and an additional conditional pick. While Callahan, 28, is universally praised for his heart, work ethic and determination, those are qualities that are awfully difficult to put a value on and, in the Rangers case they were more inclined to deal Callahan for St. Louis more tangible benefits. This isnt to say that Callahan doesnt provide his own tangible value -- he has 120 goals since 2008-2009, which ranks 50th -- but he tends towards middling puck possession numbers, including this year even tthough hes starting a career-high 60. While Callahan is one player who could benefit, anyone that ends up with Stamkos is obviously in a good situation. Teddy Purcell, Alex Killorn, Ondrej Palat and Nikita Kucherov are other wingers that could get a turn on Stamkos wings. Indications, leading up to this trade, were that Callahan was looking at a six-year deal worth more than $6-million per season. Its entirely understandable that the Lightning wont be inclined to pay that price to keep Callahan long-term, which would effectively make him a rental and therefore make the draft picks a more important facet of the deal. The second-round pick this year could be a first-round pick if the Rangers reach the Eastern Conference Final, the Lightning also get the Rangers first-round pick in 2015. If Callahan re-signs in Tampa Bay, the Rangers would get Tampa Bays second-round pick while sending a seventh-round pick to New York. The accumulated value of a mid-first and a second-round pick yields, on average, about a 95% chance of landing an NHL player, so its reasonable to see that the Lightning should get some long-term benefit out of St. Louis departure, but thats trying to making the most out of a bad situation, a situation that reached a breaking point when stories started to take hold that St. Louis had asked to be moved out of Tampa Bay. St. Louis is a rare talent, an elite point producer, and no matter how much depth the Lightning are accumulating throughout their organization -- and they have a great crop of young forwards -- its tough to make up for losing a player of St. Louis calibre, particularly in the short-term. If the Lightning were committed to making a run in a relatively open Eastern Conference, perhaps riding a career season from goaltender Ben Bishop, it might have made more sense to wait until summer to make this deal, but maybe the situation behind the scenes just wasnt tenable.
