If you want to laugh, and relive last night, you can watch round one of the 2019 NFL draft as presented live by the old men of Good Morning Gjallarhorn. We also had a few special guests: Ed, from the Skoldiers podcast, Darren “Soup” Campbell from the far northeast of Canada [and the old KickAss Blog] representing our friends north of the border, and the Grand Poobah, Christopher Gates. Fans from the Daily Norseman, Climbing The Pocket, and Facebook all gathered and watched the YouTube live event. It was a blast!What a night last night! Our beloved Minnesota Vikings selected Garrett Bradbury (@Gbradbury_11) with the #18 overall pick. The draft board fell absolutely beautifully to give Rick Spielman, Mike Zimmer, and Gary Kubiak a wide variety of options. The Vikings went on the clock at around the 2:19:00 mark. Ted Glover Garrett Bradbury white jersey , Drew Bunting and myself started out the GMG live draft party and joked about what happens if Greedy Williams was available, and he was. Thankfully, so was Bradbury. Heck, Greedy is still available going into round two. If they go offensive line at #18, they could go with Jonah Williams, Dalton Risner, or perhaps even Chris Lindstrom.Trade Down Possible, But Not LikelyI suspect if the draft plays out as above, the Vikings wouldn’t mind trading down a few spots to get an extra pick.But there may not be a trading partner willing to give enough to make it worthwhile for the Vikings.Trae Waynes is Traded for a High Second Round Pick or EquivalentThere hasn’t been any news on a potential Trae Waynes trade for draft pick(s) since it was first reported during the Owners Meeting last month.Holton Hill being suspended for four games Minnesota Vikings Jerseys Stitched , given Mike Hughes’ ACL, may throw a wet blanket on that idea, but it’s not out of the question for Waynes to be dealt this weekend either, especially with Hughes ahead of schedule in his recovery/rehab.Kansas City had been a rumored landing place for Waynes, but since the deal for Frank Clark, the Chiefs suddenly don’t have so much draft capital to spend.They still have two 2nd round picks, one of which they got for Marcus Peters, and both of those could secure a trade.The Chiefs need a starting CB very badly and are unlikely to get one at #61.Or #63. But they could get an immediate starter in Waynes that fits their scheme, is experienced, and could secure a starting job for several years.Chiefs are clearly in win now mode and need to upgrade their defense to get to the next level.There may be some other interested parties as well - 49ers and Raiders potentially.And there is this little tidbit from Rick Spielman too:The Vikings Draft Three Offensive LinemenObviously the Vikings’ biggest need is at offensive line, and they don’t neglect it this time - picking an offensive lineman each day of the draft.The Vikings End Up With at Least 10 Draft PicksIt’s well known Spielman likes to have 10 draft picks Garrett Bradbury black jersey , and between trading Trae Waynes and other draft moves, he’ll end up with at least that many.The Vikings Will Draft a TE, a RB, and a WRThe running back will most likely be Devine Ozigbo, the preference on tight end is Jace Sternberger (not sure they’ll land him or not), and I’ll go out on a limb and say they’ll draft Jalen Hurd as well.There Could Be Movement With Other Players TooMost likely Laquon Treadwell could be dealt for minimal compensation or as part of some other deal.Your Predictions ?Let us know what you think will happen with the Vikings this draft weekend!
