[Ravens fans: Sign up for FanPulse Alex Collins Jersey , our weekly Ravens survey]The Baltimore Ravens kicked off the 2018 season in dominant fashion, defeating the Buffalo Bills 47-3. Baltimore’s offense was efficient, while their defense was dominant. Joe Flacco’s impressive training camp and preseason translated into one of his best showings in recent memory. Below are seven takeaways from their resounding victory. 1. Kenny Young can be a three-down linebackerYoung looked impressive both in run defense and coverage. He recorded a sack late in the game, and his high football IQ was on full display. Young relied upon his instincts to make plays, which is something Kamalei Correa and Patrick Onwuasor struggle to do. With Correa in Tennessee and Peanut not improving in coverage, this should be Young’s job outright. 2. How long will Janarion Grant’s leash be?Head coach John Harbaugh’s proverbial doghouse is a place that no player should aspire to be in, but Grant may have put himself there with his careless fumble on a punt return. Luckily for the Ravens, Buffalo was unable to recover the fumble Authentic Patrick Onwuasor Jersey , as the ball went out of bounds. Grant also had a 51-yard return that set Baltimore’s offense up nicely, but with Cyrus Jones and Tim White sitting on the practice squad, Grant has little room for error.3. Another year, another group of defenders emergingSeemingly every year a couple of second or third-year defenders hit their stride for the Ravens, and this year looks to be no different. Chris Wormley had an impressive bull rush against center Ryan Groy that generated pressure, and he also deflected a ball at the line of scrimmage. Fellow 2017 draft pick, Tim Williams, also had an impressive performance Youth Michael Crabtree Jersey , continuing his strong preseason play with a quality Week 1 outing. He recorded a sack and was consistently generating pressure from the edge.4. ‘January Joe’ came early, and he may be here to stayFor as inaccurate as he was during the 2017 season, Joe Flacco looked like a completely different quarterback against Buffalo. He was deadly accurate, while also looking down the field. Flacco’s mark of 6.9 yards per attempt is a considerable improvement from a year ago, and his ability to extend plays with his legs made this performance that much more inspiring. On another positive note, Flacco appeared to have changed plays at the line of scrimmage several times, which is not something that he has always done throughout his career.5. Do not call it a comeback Tony Jefferson had a miserable 2017 campaign that was plagued with poor showings in coverage and missed tackles. Last season was an adjustment for Jefferson, given that he was rarely asked to be a single-high safety in Arizona. He is tasked with having to play with more versatility for the Ravens http://www.baltimoreravensteamauthentic.com/justin-tucker-jersey , including being a single-high safety. His performance in Week 1 shows that the 2018 season may be a positive change of pace. Jefferson was excellent in coverage, as he ran stride for stride with a tight end down the sidelines on one play, and he also recorded an interception.6. Opening game shows Ozzie Newsome may have got it rightAfter Baltimore’s heartbreaking loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last season, Ozzie Newsome stated numerous times that he would rebuild the wide receiver room. He wanted to not only ‘change the faces,’ but acquire valuable contributors that could help Flacco bounce back. Newsome must have been smiling from his suite on Sunday as all three free agent wide receivers scored a touchdown. 7. Panic mode? The final stat line suggests the Ravens were successful running the football, but they did not find much success until the game was already decided. Alex Collins and Javorius Allen each scored a touchdown, but they combined for only 30 rushing yards off of 11 carries. Still, the more concerning aspect was the poor run blocking and Collins’ fumble.
