White Sox rookie first baseman Jose Abreu came to major league baseball with some hype, as many Cubans do, but there wasnt any expectation for the kind of first month that hes enjoying. Cheap Basketball Shoes Online . 27-years-old with a power-hitters build (listed at 6-foot-3, 255 pounds), Abreu has roared into the majors, with 10 home runs, 31 RBI, a .262 batting average and .962 OPS in his first 26 games. As with any one-month sample, these numbers arent sustainable, but what is fair to expect from Abreu? For one thing, his batting average on balls in play is .246, which is well below average, so it would be fair to expect his batting average to go up as a few more balls fall in, but hes also had a major-league best 33.3% of his flyballs leave the park, which isnt going to hold. Over the past five seasons, there have been two seasons in which a player finished with more than 27% of his flyballs turning into home runs -- Adam Dunn in 2012 (29.3%) and Chris Davis in 2013 (29.6%) -- so Abreu is most likely to fall off his current 62-home run pace. No, seriously. What will bear watching with Abreu is how pitchers adjust to him as he makes his way through the league. He swings at a lot of pitches out of the strike zone and hes already seeing among thelowest percentage of strikes when hes at the plate, so pitchers are learning. Its also interesting to note that, thus far, while Abreu destroys fastballs and sliders, hes struggled with change-ups. If thats the scouting report, surely hell start seeing more change-ups, if just to affect his timing. At this point, 14.5% of the pitches Abreu has faced have been change-ups; it will be interesting to see if that number increases over the next month or more. None of this anticipated regression should come as a surprise, merely as a caution. Baseball tends to catch up to sluggers, especially ones that are willing to expand their strike zone by swinging freely. Smith, 30, recorded the first three saves of his career last season for Cleveland. While hes not the classic fire-balling closer, Smith has managed to miss bats this year, striking out 11 in 10 innings, the best rate of his career. Pirates closer Jason Grilli is on the DL with a strained oblique. Mark Melancon, who has 37 career saves, takes over. Melancon has been really good for the Pirates over the past couple seasons, posting a 1.41 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 84 games, striking out 79 in 83 innings. If the Pirates are in position to win games, Melancon is qualified to close them out. After a preliminary examination of the contracts involved in Neymars signing, judge Pablo Ruz wrote in a ruling there is "sufficient elements for the admission of the lawsuit" brought by club member Jordi Cases. On Monday, Rosell insisted the total cost of 57 million euros (then $74 million) to bring Neymar from Brazilian club Santos announced at the players presentation last June was correct. Cases alleges the amount paid by the Spanish champions was higher and that Rosell misappropriated funds by hiding the real cost to the club behind false contracts, a criminal offence punishable by up to six years of prison. Cases told El Pais newspaper on Monday "the lawsuit is against Rosell, not against Barca." "We dont think that somebody kept the money," Cases said. "We only want to know how they account for the expenditures, because it isnt clear." Barcelona is owned by its more than 160,000 members, who elect a president and governing board. Barcelona made 482.6 million euros ($654 million) in revenue last season, second only to fierce rival Real Madrid, according to accountancy firm Deloitte. Rosell and other members of his board have repeatedly said the contracts involved in Neymars transfer included confidentiality clauses that dont allow them to reveal the exact amount of the 57 million euros received by Santos, and the three companies, DIS, TEISA and N&N, who owned shares of Neymars rights. To proceed with tthe suit, Ruz asked that FIFA and the Brazilian football federation present documentation related to the Neymar transfer; Neymar da Silva Santos Junior provide the contract he signed with the company N&N, run by his father Neymar Silva Santos, that ceded it his "future economic rights"; and for Barcelona to hand over contracts for the payment of 7. Rosell said Monday he would be willing to answer any questions Ruz might have regarding the deal. "We respect all the contracts we sign," Rosell said. "Thats why I would be delighted for the judge to summon me for questioning so I can explain all the questions related to the contract." Rosell, at least for now, will not have to appear before the judge in Madrid because Ruz said there was no "urgency or need" for him to be summoned. Ruz is also presiding over a high-profile corruption case that has rocked Spains ruling party regarding an alleged slush fund run by former Popular Party treasurer Luis Barcenas. The 21-year-old Neymar, who led Santos on its greatest run since Pele stopped playing in the 1970s, has scored 11 goals since joining Barcelona. He is sidelined with a right ankle injury for two-to-three weeks. This is the second major ongoing legal dispute involving Barcelona players. A court near Barcelona questioned Lionel Messi and his father Jorge in September after a Spanish state prosecutor filed a complaint that the Argentina star owed 4 million euros in back taxes.
